Facing Our Fears
It's a Friday night and I'm all alone *cues 340ml* I'm at a 24 hour pizza place taking advantage of the free wi-fi, sipping on some low calorie drink while ordering the smallest pizza hoping all those carbs don't come back to haunt me. You see I'm on a calorie-controlled eating plan (no it's not a fucken diet! It's an eating plan!) My food seems to be the only thing I can control in my life. I'm trying to change my body hoping that everything else will fall into place but I know that it won't and it scares the shit out of me. We all have demons we need to face and facing them will take an insurmountable amount of courage to do but we have to try because not facing our fears is far worse. We cannot let our fears control us. Trying may be harder and scarier but not trying is a fate no person should ever succumb to. It is so much easier to be lazy and to not do anything remarkable or not to try to do something incredible because to achieve anything great means that you will actually have to try and trying means you actually have to work. And greatness is directionally proportional to big action which means to do anything awesome you will have to work hard and long and you might have to wait a really long time to achieve what it is you want to achieve and most of us don't want to wait or work. We all want the fruits without the labour. But it doesn't work that way. You have to sow before you reap. Have you ever heard of a farmer who sows his seeds just before harvest? Like nature, the universe is not something you can manipulate for an instant gratification or quick fix outcome. If you want to achieve something great you have to have the courage to know that you need to have patience, resilience, a crazy work ethic and most importantly hope that if it doesn't work out the first time it will work out eventually if you just keep at it, in order to achieve your dreams. Potential unexpressed will manifest in an indescribable pain that can kill your very being. It is better to face whatever it is that may frighten you because if you don't you will end up a being a bitter, scared, horrible, angry human being and that is not your destiny. Your destiny is to shine and be the best person you can possible be while contributing and giving all of your gifts to the world. Yes it is hard but the hard is what makes it great. Try and try and try again and never give up even if your shit isn't popping off, never ever give up because to give up means to admit defeat and to admit defeat will kill all your spirit and without your spirit you are just an empty shell devoid of anything and to be like that is far worse than death. You are capable of so much more than you think. But to face your fears is hard. Cowering and giving into your fears is so much easier I know. But nothing great ever came from easy. Nothing. So prepare yourself for the difficulty of facing your fears because trust me not only does it take courage but also shitloads of hard work. And then when you have acquired the courage to overcome your fears and realised that nothing great ever came with ease you will then come face to face with your greatness.
It is easy not to aspire to excellence but to live in a state of ease and not pushing ourselves to be the be the best we can be and contribute amazing things to this world, will lead to dissatisfaction and hatred of yourself. You will think that you cannot amount to anything and that you are a useless human being and then, then you will end up not doing or trying anything and you will be stuck in this vicious cycle of unproductivity and self-hatred. You will end up hating yourself because you gave up trying because you were to fucken afraid to. Don't end up hating yourself and being the most unremarkable average person that people will end up forgetting. You are too amazing to be forgotten. Have the courage to be great. Don't be afraid anymore. Embrace the greatness you are destined for.
I've only got 100 calories more to go for the day *sigh* white hot chocolate or black coffee?

Cheesekids Nelson Mandela Day - Atteridgeville Community Takeover
Cheesekids is an NGO made up of young people who put in the most prized commodity - time - to help those less fortunate and in need. We've been involved in Nelson Mandela volunteering campaigns since 2009 where we have provided a platform for people of all ages and backgrounds to lend 67 minutes of their time in honour of Nelson Mandela to those who need a hand. On the 20th of July we did things a little differently and went to a specific community called Atteridgeville Township in Tshwane where thousands of volunteers came and helped on different sites around the community making it better off. Cheesekids will occupy the community for 3-4 months and hold different projects to help and empower the community.
Ultimately we hope to inspire people to volunteer and do good for communities and people less fortunate than them. To join us please visit www.cheesekids.org.za andhelp make our country a better place.

A New Beginning
Just finished writing two reviews and a feature piece. Been at it since ten am. Took a two hour break to take my bestie to the airport then got back into it. Listening to Wale's "The Gifted" now trying to finish my third review. The month of June was a historical one for hip-hop! Kanye, J.Cole, Wale dropped! The new agesters also dropped with Joey Bada$$ and Mac Miller dropping as well. So much music I can't keep up! Now July has Jay-Z(the greatest rapper alive!) Pusha and Fabo dropping as well! What an awesome Winter for music! So its only right that I get to analyse and document these lovely offerings. For the first time ever I'm feeling so hungry to work. I've had the biggest holiday and now its time to brush off the lethargy and get into it. The only thing I have left to do is to KEEP IT CONSISTENT. That's all we really need to do in life. LEARN GOOD HABITS AND KEEP THEM UP. That's all we need to do.
